Hey there, I’m Ryan Patch, and I make films, scripts, audio stories, and experiences.
I cut my teeth telling campfire stories in the mountains of my native Colorado, then decamped for New York, where I earned my BFA at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. My senior thesis film, “The Sheol Express,” won the audience award at NYU’s First Run Festival and was acquired by Shorts International for global distribution. I then attended Royal Holloway, University of London, and received a Master’s in Screenwriting. I now apply all these skills to my work, writing and directing film, audio, and experiences.
Most recently, my 10-episode narrative audio drama “City of Ghosts” premiered. The podcast was acquired by Realm, and TV rights have been acquired and are being actively developed by eOne/Lionsgate. The podcast stars Bridgette Lundy-Paine, Golshifteh Farahani, Erin Darke, Moisés Arias, James Scully, Rich Sommer, and Kevin Pollak. It’s about systems of power, money, and ghosts in New York City.
I am currently in advanced development of my first feature film, “Half Way Down”, from an award-winning script. It’s a contained thriller set in rural Britain.
My most recent short narrative, sci-fi thriller “Regulation,” stars Sunita Mani (“Glow”, “Mr. Robot”) and Audrey Bennett (Original Broadway Cast “Frozen”). “Regulation” premiered in early 2019 and has garnered “Official Selection” status at 25 festivals and many awards. It premiered on the Omeletto shorts channel, was acquired by Gunpowder and Sky for their “DUST” sci-fi streaming platform, and resulted in a fellowship to write a feature screenplay.
My screenwriting has brought me to finalist rounds of ScreenCraft, Slated Film Accelerator, and Vail Film Festival script competitions, and quarter/semi-finalist rounds of Austin, ScreenCraft, HollyShorts and others. I am actively writing and developing new Film and TV projects, and was included in the Black List’s TV Staffing Book of the most promising TV writers.
My other narrative films include the horror thriller “The Offering” (played at Palm Springs ShortFest and awarded Vimeo’s Short of the Week), “Ibrihim and the Dreamer,” which was shot in Africa with an all-indigenous cast, and "Gringa", which I produced and has played in over 20 festivals and won 14 awards on the festival circuit.
My immersive experience work began as the co-creator of “The Great Gotham Challenge” an immersive theater & puzzle adventure played on the streets of New York City. It combines elements of escape rooms, live theater, and location-based technology to give participants an unforgettable narrative experience. GGC is now a part of Gotham Immersive Labs, where we continue to produce groundbreaking immersive experiences.
